Rye Whiskey: What’s Old is New Again

SOLD OUT! Rye whiskey was the favored spirit of pre-prohibition America, but shortly after this American specialty nearly disappeared completely. Fast forward to the 21st century, when Rye whiskey re-exploded in popularity, increasing in sales by over 500% in the last decade! Whereas ten years ago less than half a dozen Ryes were available, and now there are hundreds of options for thirsty folks. This class will explore the history of Rye whiskey, and showcase how types of Rye, length of age and barrel types all have an effect on the spirit’s flavor.
